When cabinetmakers and designers see this product, they often say, “I didn’t know that Sage Doors worked with veneer” – that’s how close to a natural timber these Timbalook doors look. Timbalook is your easy veneer alternative, being more scratch resistant, more colour-fast, more stain resistant and more environmentally friendly than a veneer.

With a realistic look and feel, no lacquering involved, consistent colour, hard & durable surface, Timbalook® provides you with the authentic veneer-look, at a cost-effective price.

Special Features

What makes Timbalook® your veneer door alternative of choice?

The Surface: Timbalook® features a durable melamine surface, with a unique texture and picture to create an authentic textured surface for a realistic veneer look. The picture and the texture imitate that of a real timber veneer surface.

Some of the colour range has texture on one side only, with the back being the same colour with a flatter texture.

Please note: Timbalook® is a melamine product intended for cabinetry & wall panels. It is not suitable for use as a splashback or benchtop.

The Substrate: Timbalook® is pressed on an MDF substrate. We work with 2 suppliers for our Timbalook products; the colours Ruakaka, Kaikoura, Ohakune and Papamoa feature a moisture resistant, Carb2 (low formaldehyde – similar to E0 rating) MDF substrate from a leading MDF manufacturer in Europe. This high-quality MDF is made from 100% recovered wood – timber that would otherwise go to waste!

The remaining colours are pressed on a moisture resistant, Carb2 from another MDF manufacturer.

The Edge: We achieve a seamless transition between the panel’s face and edge by utilizing a matching laser edgetape from MKT, a leading German edgetape manufacturer. MKT focus to create edge tape with a excellent match to the colour, image and texture of the board, resulting in a consistent appearance for both the face and edge.

The Size: Timbalook® comes in a large sheet size (2775×2045) for extra flexibility in your design. Available in thicknesses of 19, 36 and 60mm.

The Trademark: Timbalook® is manufactured exclusively by Sage Doors to ensure consistency and quality assurance. Timbalook® is the registered trademark that encompasses our finished door products, consisting of the acrylic board, our special laseredge known as Invisedge®, and the Sage Door’s 3m philosophy.

Cleaning: Timbalook® is simple to clean. Simply use a damp, soapy microfiber cloth, then dry with a towel to remove streaks. Due to the deeply textured nature of the product, you may also use a soft brush at times to clean more stubborn marks.

Avoid spraying cleaning products directly onto the face of the door, as this can cause pooling on the bottom of the door, which can lead to swelling over time.
